Message of Pope Leo XIV to the Youth Gathered at St. Peter's Square On Tuesday, 29 July 2025:

“Jesus tells us: «You are the salt of the earth […] You are the light of the world. » (Mt. 5:13-14). «Ustedes son la sal de la tierra […] la luz del mundo» (Mt 5,13-14). And today your voices, your enthusiasm, your cries — which are all for Jesus Christ — will be heard to the ends of the earth. Today marks the beginning of a new journey, a jubilee of hope, and the world needs messages of hope. You are that message, and you must continue to give hope to everyone. We hope that all of you will always be signs of hope in the world! Today is the beginning…”

Resources

Life Teen

The Life Teen movement consists of resources that provide solid Catholic teaching and youth ministry experiences for youth through high school. The youth gather once a week to have a life night: pray, learn about a topic and get an invitation for the week. If you are interested please contact your home parish for information.

Edge

The goal of Edge is to provide a safe and fun place for middle schoolers to find a solid Catholic community, get answers to their questions, and, most importantly, to experience Jesus in a profound and personal way. The group meets every week to have Edge night. If you are interested please contact your home parish for information.

Teen ACTS

ACTS stand for Adoration, Community, Theology, and Service and is a four-day, three-night Catholic retreat designed to reignite the faith and bring teens into a closer relationship with God and their community.

Alpha

Alpha is a series of group conversations that explore the basics of the Christian faith in a friendly environment. It’s a place to connect with people, where you can say anything you like or nothing at all.
Everyone’s welcome, no matter their background or beliefs. No two Alphas look the same, but they all have three key elements: connect, watch and discuss.

Find your Alpha group and join other young adults (ages 18-30) for conversation, connection, and purpose.

Shaping the future

The Shaping the Future program, is an initiative of the Mexican American Catholic College (MACC) in San
Antonio, is a collaborative Catholic formation initiative dedicated to strengthening and expanding
leadership development among Hispanic/Latino young adults in dioceses across the United
States. Through theological education, cultural ministry formation, mentoring, and engagement in
social and ecclesial realities, the program seeks to equip participants to serve more confidently in
Church and society contexts. As part of our diocesan involvement, we currently have five young adult
students from different parishes of our diocese enrolled in Shaping the Future, each bringing their
unique background and gifts into the shared journey of formation and service.

Campus Ministry

The Newman Club at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) in Laredo is the Catholic campus-ministry organization for young adults and college students.    Its mission is to touch the hearts and minds of the young adults of Laredo and bring them to faith, hope, and love in the person of Jesus Christ. Through liturgies (Mass, adoration, confession), faith formation, retreats, social events, and community service, Newman offers students opportunities to grow spiritually, build friendships, and explore their Catholic identity.    They hold regular gatherings, host welcoming retreats for new members, and maintain a presence on social media to engage students in events and spiritual life on campus.
